There's a heavy door at the end of the hallway, but your path is blocked by a pit that's the entire width of the room. It's so deep that you can't see the bottom.

On the far side of it is a long, sturdy ladder — this must be a one-way escape route.

As you wonder if there's another way around, you hear noises coming from down the hall.
